Face comparison

If you wish to request a face comparison check, this section provides all the details you need to complete this. Each check will provide a report of the result from the face comparison check.

A face comparison check is used along with a liveness check. It requests an assessment of whether the user's face matches the reference facial image. The user's facial image is obtained from the liveness check, which must be performed first. If a liveness check is not requested, the user will be prompted to capture an image of their face and provide consent for the check. An AI comparison will be performed between a live user selfie and the reference facial image. A confidence score will be returned along with the check result.

The user flow

Users are only required to complete the liveness check using the client view. The face comparison check then runs in the background, comparing the pre-configured reference image against the selfie taken during the liveness check.

Results

Yoti performs an automated check to confirm the user's face matches the reference image. The face comparison check will give a recommendation and its breakdown. The resources, however, are not directly included in the results, but contain a media ID. This can be used to fetch the actual media resource.

The user may have attempted liveness multiple times; the liveness results may contain multiple images, as a liveness result is generated for each allowed retry.

For a face comparison to be considered a pass overall, confirm that at least one recommendation value of the Liveness check is APPROVE and the Face Comparison check is APPROVE .

Recommendation

A recommendation value is included in the report after the check.

Sub check

There is only one sub-check under the face comparison check.

This sub-check also returns a confidence score indicating the accuracy of the match.
